Self Education

Self education is very useful for people that want to become game designers when they are not attending any colleges, universities or technical schools because the game designer can learn about the process of creating games while still at home. It is also very useful for people that do have formal classes as they can complement each other. There are many different resources for self education, with some of them text, video and audio.

Audio:

Many audio resources for game designers are available all around the internet. There are many types of audios resources, such as: podcasts, interviews, etc. A lot of times it’s a conversation between someone and a game designer or a team of designers who will a lot of times give tips and techniques right from people who are in the industry. Often audio resources can be a good change from video and/or text resources.

Videos:

There are many videos about game design and the game design industry which you can find all over the internet, many of which are very useful for just about anyone in the game designing business.

In becoming a game designer, it’s very important that you follow lessons, tutorials, read articles, watch videos, presentations and listen to podcasts, interviews, and other audio resources so that you become better at game designing. Being disciplined is also very helpful so that you become better faster. You can also combine self education with formal education to get even better results!
